We had a blast camping at Millersylvania State Park for the Family Camp with Mtn Vineyard. JO and JY love playing in the dirt and even built a ramp for The Webmaster’s RC Car.

What, I have something on my face?

The dirt ramp didn’t work out so well, which led to all the boys gathered around Jason who was troubleshooting the broken car.

On Saturday it warmed up enough to go for a swim in Deep Lake. The swimming area was sandy, and mostly shallow so all the kids got to swim without the adults getting overly worried. JY was doing what The Webmaster calls the Baywatch run up and down the shore.

One of the kids found a dead crawdad and they decided to build it a home. JO is pouring water in the trench.

Until he lost a claw that Natalie is so kindly showing the camera. My reaction was eeeeewwwwwwww!

Moving right along…we tried some new campfire recipes. These burgers, fire grilled with BBQ sauce, pineapple, and onion, were a big hit.

With all the exciting activities JO and The Webmaster needed a rest.

Their resting left me time to finish my Powder Puff Girl Socks
. I knit the Little Child’s Sock from Knitting Vintage socks with Hazel Knits Artisan Sock in the gerber colorway. The pattern, by Nancy Bush, is an easy knit as well as elegant.

I love the little details Nancy Bush includes in her socks. For example, the way the moss stitch comes to a point at the rounded toe creates a flowing end to the pattern.

I promise a chicken update the next time I post and possibly some yarn and a bag or two.

We’re getting ready to go camping this weekend so I’ll make this quick so I can finish packing. The Webmaster put up the boys inflatable swimming pool last month when the weather was summer like. Last year JY stayed near the sides of the pool and had trouble staying on his feet. This year he was all over the place. What a difference a year makes. He wasn’t any happier about JO splashing cold water in his face though.

JO is as rambunctious as ever and insisted upon splashing me and anyone that dared to come near him.

I couldn’t stay mad at the little booger though, because he kept giving me the puppy dog face. By the way, thanks Webmaster for teaching the boys that trick.

JO was being a 2 year old and wouldn’t let me take many pictures of him. He didn’t last long in the cold water though before he decided he had enough.

The Webmaster made me this little button in photoshop to use as my Hazel Knits Sock Club spoiler alert. Once he understood what I wanted it for he got right to work. These flowers in the front yard were in full bloom a week ago, and The Webmaster added the lettering.

Ok consider yourself forewarned…I’m about to post the Hazel Knits June sock club shipment. You know you want to look.

Contained in the little bee tin is some vanilla lotion that you can get from Honey House Naturals. I’ve been using it and love the light scent and non-greasiness of it. The solid colored yarn, Hibiscus, is a deep pinkish red color.

I usually stay away from yellow, but I love the color combination of the variegated yarn, Aloha.

I’m in love with this shipment. Let the waiting game for the August begin since the sign ups are open. I’m going to try to post more frequently, because I have so many things to post about. Those baby chickens are chirping to be included in the posting too. I’ll leave you with a picture I took when I caught The Webmaster and JY fixing their hair in the bathroom.

After a lot of internet research we decided to get some little chicks for Papa for Father’s day. The feed store down in the valley had so many to choose from. JO and JY were mesmerized by all the little chicks running around.

The rock JY had in his hand was a “treasure” that he insisted on bringing into the store. Of course he dropped it in with the chickens and proceeded to pout until I fished it out.

When we arrived home with the “babies” the boys helped me clean out a dog crate with soapy water.

The Webmaster, JO, and JY spread out pine shavings for bedding and hooked up the heat lamp.

Now it’s time to load it with chicks. Chicken Joe went first.

JO wanted a turn so he put Marty in next.

I named this one Henrietta and JY put her in third.

The last one with a name is Oreo. The other four remain nameless so Nonny, Papa, and Jer better hurry up and think of names. Slowpokes. JO and JY love the chickens and check on them every day. JY says “Be gentle they’re babies”.

I’ve been knitting my Woodsmoke Socks by the campfire. I knit these in Hazel Knits Artisan Sock in a rogue one of a kind colorway. I’ve affectionately been calling it Red Velvet Cake
It was a great pattern and the yarn is lovely as usual.

Campfires are so relaxing.

I’m waiting, not very patiently, for the June installment of the Hazel Knits Sock Club. Hopefully next time I will have pictures of that for you.
